Owner of the honey pot faces huge backlash

Recently Target released a commercial with Beatrice Dixon, owner of The Honey Pot. A company that sells a variety of sanitary and hygienic items for women.  In the commercial Dixon said, "It's important for honey pot to do well, so the next black girl that comes up with a great idea, can have a great opportunity".
After this commercial aired Dixon received backlash from non-women of color.  Who felt left out when Dixon made her statement regarding black girls. Personally, I don't think she was wrong. People and women of all colors need to be able to admire to role models who look like they do.
As a result all of Dixon's "The Honey Pot" products have been selling out. Shelves have been left empty, and even the website is sold out.  Everything is on back order.  Her supporters showed up and showed out.

NATIONAL PERIOD DAY!

Today is national period day. While we have made some strides pertaining to our menstrual cycles. We still have a long way to go. From understanding that conditions like endometriosis or fibroids is more than just a "bad period".  To hopefully one day soon stopping the tax on women sanitary items. Happy National Period Day!

Kotex recalls tampons

Kotex recalls tampons. Post below. We need more access to better sanitary items. I prefer to use organic tampons and pads. Occasionally a menstrual cup. Yet this is outrageous. Let me know what you think ladies?

WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY-ENDOMETRIOSIS

Hi loves! Today is world mental health day. If I were to be asked when I was initially diagnosed how does endometriosis affect your mental health? I would not have been able to give a complete and transparent answer.  Even though I was crying daily and I couldn't even speak about it without sobbing. Endometriosis typically affects the hormones, yet oddly mines have remained stable. After every appointment I would cry badly on the ride home. Family and friends would assume things about my condition. Which only adds fuel to the fire. Especially if they don't ask, they just assume.  Assuming it's your "hormones" when endometriosis affects many aspects of our lives. From our goals to day to day activities.  Which can be detrimental to mental health. Causing anxiety and depression.
I experience both anxiety and depression as a result of my endometriosis. All of which I have battled years before being diagnosed surgically with stage 4 endometriosis. I began mediation, acupuncture, hypnotherapy and many other holistic forms of self-care. I began making time for myself, above all else. Later in my journey I began seeing a therapist, along with holistic practices. I fuse eastern and western practices. She helped me put a lot into perspective, and knew who were my genuine supporters. Just having her listen and guide me out of my negative self talk was healing. Throughout my healing journey, many did not want to hear what I was going through. Which led me to a deep depression. People get upset when you express whats on your mind. Which made me isolate myself.
My journey didn't just begin with food, I was also working on my mind. Which takes isolation, forgiveness, awareness, and self-love. I began to tune certain type of vibes out, and cultivate the ones that fed my soul. In this process, I had to not worry about people calling me weird or mean, for putting yourself first. Or for enjoying time alone. The same people critiquing and not understanding, have their own battles that they are still overcoming. This is a never ending process of becoming a better version of yourself. I never thought that endometriosis would led me to depression. I had to realize that I'd actually felt this way far to long. For example, on average it takes 8-10 years to get diagnosed with endometriosis. That would make anyone feel mentally exhausted and terrible. Searching for an answer or assistance for years, just to be told it's all in your head? I am still learning how to battle this sadness daily. It took years for me to understand how mental health played a role in endometriosis. I'm still learning everyday and I'm sharing my story in hopes that it will help someone to be better understood. So when you hear someone say, "check on your strong friend". Don't wait and regret it. Happy national world mental health day!

ENDOMETRIOSIS NEWS GABRIELLE UNION OPENS UP ABOUT ADENOMYOSIS

A few months ago actress Gabrielle Union was featured on the Doctor Oz show. Where she bravely revealed her battle with infertility. After suffering many miscarriages she later found out she had adenomyosis. Which could have been the underlying cause of her miscarriages and infertility.

Adenomyosis is very similar to endometriosis. Except the endometrium breaks through the muscle wall of the uterus. Basically fusing itself to the uterine wall. Cases of he disease often end in a hysterectomy. Due to the fact that it can't just be removed by excision unlike endometriosis. It can also cause infertility. Which is exactly what's going on with Gabrielle Union.

I am elated that she has been transparent about her struggles as a woman. We need more women to be open about gynecological conditions. In hopes to end the stigma that exists surrounding women health conditions. I believe that if we have to be more open about what we are experiencing. Whether it's pain, infertility, hormonal imbalances, stress, then maybe we can find more answers and supporters to advocate for us. So that the young girls now, who may go through this can have quick and accurate diagnosis and better treatment options. Subscribe to be noticed of new posts!

Remedy For Blemishes

Welcome back to another blog post! In this post I wanted to share a quick remedy with you all. As we all know that endometriosis and other women's health conditions bring breakouts. I know of something that could help. It's rosewater. Having many benefits such as balancing
the skins ph, while also hydrating the skin. It is also anti-inflammatory.
Meaning that it is good for clearing the skin. Since many breakouts come along with inflammation, which results in a reddish tint. Rosewater will help sooth the skin.
Using this will help your skin and make you look younger.
Due to its antioxidant properties. So go ahead, give this a try. It will work wonders!

I also wanted a few snacks, as I prepare to give up certain foods again. Yes, some vegan snacks are included in that. Ludacris' wife suffers miscarriage earlier this year

In a recent Instagram post that Eudoxie (wife of rapper Ludacris) made for her birthday, she revealed she had a miscarriage. She stated that it occurred earlier this year, and that she chose to live in gratitude. "How can I complain when God already allowed me to experience motherhood", said Eudoxie.
That was very well put and took a lot of strength to be open about. It was also stated that she had to have surgery. There are many reasons women who miscarry have to have a procedure. I just hope that she's okay, and that the pregnancy wasn't ectopic. That is where the embryo is in the fallopian tube. Most cases result in a partial or full removal of the fallopian tube  and/or ovary. Thanks for reading Loves. Subscribe to be notified of new posts!

Beyond Meat Beefy Crumbles

If you're on the plant based, vegan, vegetarian scene. Then you know that Beyond Meat is hot on the scene right now! Their line includes "beef" style crumbles.

That really mimic the taste of ground meat. Especially with the right spices. I've made a few delicious meals using them.  Here are a couple.
Vegan Spaghetti

Vegan Chili cheese fries w/daiya

These crumbles should be added to the grocery list! If you like this blog, give it a plus one on google, or share it on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Subscribe for post notifications.

My endometriosis awareness month

Hi Love's. As of lately I've been experiencing ovarian cysts ruptures. At least four since the new year. I wanted to share that with my sisters, being transparent. I know that I have to do better. Busy day to day life is no excuse for not being fully on top on my regimen. Even though it has been completely plant based more recently than ever.
Yet, I have been over indulging in "vegan/plant based junk food". Honestly sad to say. I am grateful that the cysts are rupturing without medical intervention. That means no surgical removal. That is still a sign of progress for me. I am going to get back to being mostly raw plant based. I will continue to update you all on my progress.  I appreciate you for still reading these blogs.
